The Lord does not want us to do penance all the time, and become miserable, or proud of our self-sacrifice. There's a time for penance and rigour, and a time for a good rest, with a cup of hot chocolate, and a biscuit - in the Lord's company, at peace.
The light of the Holy Spirit shines in the soul of someone who prays in Jesus' name; and those earnest prayers are heard in Heaven. It took decades of prayer before Communism fell in Russia. We must not lose hope that, with persevering prayer, the evil of abortion can be overcome.
Our Lady comes to be with us as we worship God and honour her.
People in television programmes are pictured 'before' and 'after', as they learn social skills. How many of God's own people strive to grow in charity, courtesy, self-control, knowledge and gratitude, so that they might be at ease, mingling with Saints and Angels in Heaven?

A person who approaches God in prayer with an open heart, accepting God's Will in everyday life, receives a torrent of grace to water her soul, and to pour out to refresh others. A soul closed to God becomes like a desert, and can do no good for others.

If we looked, with God's eyes, all around the globe, we would learn that few people on this earth truly desire, more than anything, to do God's will, determined to love Him and their neighbour.
God is like a permanent Presence above us, reaching out all over the Earth, to touch, help, heal, calm, teach and console
Through Holy Communion we are present with Christ; and we can talk to him as intimately as if we sit round the kitchen table
The soul full of God's grace was represented by a soft-sloping beach, washed by the warm sea. The unhappy souls were like landscapes atop a hard steep cliff. One of these unhappy souls was featureless and dull, one fearsome in its mystery, and one terrifying because it was littered with bones.
Christ holds out His hand, all the time, to rescue people from sinful ways. Yet He does not save us without our consent. A man 'stuck' fast in sinful habits need to put out his hand to Christ - to say 'Yes' to Christ - if he wants to be delivered from his terrible state.
God the Father dwells in Heaven amidst the Fire of glory which He is; and it is before His throne that souls are brought for judgement. Some souls are brought to share His glory forever.
God the Father can draw us up in prayer, through His fiery glory, until we lean on the Father's heart, in blessed intimacy, like a child on her father's breast who is confident of being heard.
Pope John Paul stands in heaven, stretching out his hand in greeting, as we ask for his help.
If we are sick and call to Christ, He comes to sit by our side, bringing us comfort by His Presence. No words are necessary. His love is enough.
A dense cloud seems to cover those parts of the earth where there is war, which cuts off many people from God. Wherever there is conflict there is danger for souls as well as bodies. Except amongst those who stay close to God, there is immorality or hatred or revenge or other evils being worked bodily or within souls.
War can endanger or corrupt the fighters. It can even endanger the souls of the injured innocent by making them bitter or full of hate. What sort of preparation for Heaven is armed struggle and all the evils that cause war to flourish?
The moral effects of war are horrific. Those who fight can become hard-hearted, and the victims who though perhaps innocent, can become full of bitterness and hatred.
God is so great, and the earth so small, that nothing can happen that He has not allowed - even the worst things that people suffer. To have trust in God is a magnificent way of showing love for God, believing that He is good, and that good can come out of evil; trust of the sort shown by Jesus our Lord in His earthly life-time.
