Christ sees our pain and exhaustion, and comes to us in Holy Communion to offer consolation and reassurance, like a mother stroking a child's hair.

Christ has a path for each of us to follow. Whether we are Clergy or laity, married or single, busy in prominent tasks or 'hidden away' in obscure jobs or illness, we glorify Him if we follow the way He reveals to us. One step at a time, we can walk in obedience and trust.

Our determination to move towards Christ, even in difficulties, is like the determination of a child who struggles towards her mother, even when she can only just walk. Persistence is part of the journey.

The Kingdom of Heaven, where God reigns in glory, extends as far as Earth: to each place, or each soul, where God's Will is done. Wherever people believe what is taught by Christ and His Church, and out of love for Christ put his teachings into practice, in truth, justice, love, purity and holiness, the Kingdom is made present. All are invited to enter.

When the bread has been consecrated at Mass, Christ is substantially Present on our altar, in all His glory. We offer Him the love and the reverence due to His Divinity, here in 'God's House'.

Time and space seem to vanish at the Mass, after the consecration. We are present to the once-for-all Sacrifice offered on our altar in a sacramental manner. We pray with and through Christ to our Heavenly Father, as if at the foot of the cross, with Mary, our Mother.

Christ invites us to appear at the altar rail, to receive Holy Communion; and at the end of life to appear at the rail at the edge of Heaven, made holy and ready to enter.

It should be the aim of each Christian to climb the mountain of holiness, and to emerge one day from the darkness of sin to the 'fresh air' of life in Christ, in purity, amidst the flowers of grace - ready to greet Christ when He calls the soul to die, and to go 'Home'

As a beautiful jewel rests in a worthy jewel-case, so the Blessed Sacrament should be placed in a worthy setting, honoured by the best of everything. Place, art, behaviour, prayer: all should be worthy of Christ our Saviour and God.

Christ showed me that all those people in the hundred-year-old newsreel are now dead, and are in Heaven or Hell or Purgatory. How many were aware that their behaviour had eternal consequences? And each of us alive today will end our lives with a meeting with almighty God.

Christ made an amazing 'descent' from Heaven, as if across a vast distance, leaving the glory and holiness of Heaven to become man, to live amongst us, to die and rise again to save us from our sins, and to open Heaven's 'door' to all who believe in Him.
