At every celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Christ is Really Present, praying for sinners, gazing towards the Father, just as when Christ once prayed from the Cross. His one prayer is eternal. His one sacrifice is re-presented, Sacramentally, at Mass, in every place and era.

Ever since the time when Christ offered His life for sinners, on Calvary, and prayed for us to be forgiven, that same Sacrifice and sacrificial prayer have been offered by Christ for sinners: in a sacramental manner, all over the world, century by century, at every celebration of the Mass.

Wherever the Mass is celebrated, those present are present to the whole of Christ's redeeming work, achieved during His life on earth and including His death on the Cross. At every Mass, the graces of Redemption are made available in a particular place and era.

Christ showed me in Holy Communion that He was hugging me, as one hugs a child to console her, to help me through my difficulties.

The Lord showed me that Heaven is like a circular area full of Divine glory, occupied by the Three Divine Persons and the Angels and Saints. Christ and His holy Mother want to greet new arrivals, which is why each of us needs to ask himself: "Am I ready to enter?"

Each of us can picture himself as standing at the 'edge' of Heaven, near the steps that lead up to Christ and Our Blessed Lady, who are surrounded by the Saints. Each of us can ask: Am I ready to enter? Do I now lead a life of purity, love and peace?

If we want to help ourselves to think about our readiness for Heaven, we can do as Christ asks, and picture ourselves as standing at the foot of the steps which lead to the Father's throne in Heaven - as if we stand with our head through a fake landscape, at the seaside. Then we can ask ourselves, of Heaven: "Am I ready to enter?"

Christ and his Mother, with all the Saints and Angels, live in the glory of Heaven. If we are called 'home', are we ready to enter? Are we holy, pure, and at peace with God and our neighbor?

There are times when we must 'go to extremes', in believing and teaching all that Christ teaches us through His Church, even when this makes us unpopular. In our willingness to speak the truth we follow Christ's example, and walk in His footsteps.

A person who is trapped in immorality, to satisfy his appetites, is like a man living deep in the earth, in a small cellar with a trap-door. For a Christian to live like that is shameful - and for a priest to do so is especially tragic - though even the most sinful people can be helped by the intercessions of others.

If we refuse to follow the teachings of Christ and His Church, and lead immoral lives, we are like people who ignore a 'danger' sign and walk across a road where there is severe subsidence. They will risk losing limb or life. We risk our eternal life with God.

Christ admires the loving mission of the former 'porn models' and prostitutes who have been converted and now befriend others still trapped in vice. They invite them - with some success - to come to church, and to Bible-study groups, and to earn a living in other ways.

At the Consecration at Mass, at Blackfriars in Oxford, I saw Christ standing behind the altar, with the Dominican priests who were concelebrating. His glory shone all around, as I praised Him for His Real Presence and His love.

There are times when we can avoid trouble and difficulty, and confront injustice; but there are other times when it is useless to protest, and we do best to imitate Jesus in His acceptance of His Father's plan, in total trust and surrender, confident the God can bring good out of evil.

It is as though Heaven has descended as far as a church sanctuary. We are united in praise with Christ, in our midst, and with the Saints. This is a living memorial of Christ's death: yet the Risen Christ is with us, praising the Father Who sent Him to be our Saviour.

Christ is a true friend and companion to those who believe in Him and love Him.
