Christ's Holy Mother Mary deserved to be honoured; and there should be visible reminders for us, in our churches, that she who is in Heaven now, praying for us, is God the Father's holy daughter, the Spirit's faithful spouse, the Son's holy and loveable Mother, and our mother too.

Sacred Liturgy is like a river of praise which pours from the Church, upwards towards God in Eternity; and our own personal intentions to praise God with Christ and the Church flow into that 'river', reach Heaven, and give glory to the Father.

Christ our God Who reigns in Eternal Glory, is Really Present in the Blessed Sacrament in church, and in the homes of the sick who receive Holy Communion. It is fitting that an 'altar' is prepared, with candles and a clean cloth and a crucifix, where the pyx may be placed.

There are times when we must 'go to extremes', in believing and teaching all that Christ teaches us through His Church, even when this makes us unpopular. In our willingness to speak the truth we follow Christ's example, and walk in His footsteps.

Christ admires the loving mission of the former 'porn models' and prostitutes who have been converted and now befriend others still trapped in vice. They invite them - with some success - to come to church, and to Bible-study groups, and to earn a living in other ways.

It is as though Heaven has descended as far as a church sanctuary. We are united in praise with Christ, in our midst, and with the Saints. This is a living memorial of Christ's death: yet the Risen Christ is with us, praising the Father Who sent Him to be our Saviour.

We are right to unite ourselves with Christ's self-offering in the Mass, but we give God the Father further glory if we pause in private prayer, throughout the day, to renew our self-offering. In that way we honour God and draw grace upon ourselves and the Church, and we can be certain that Christ is with us at every step of the way.

When people chatter needlessly in church, their Guardian Angels still pray to Jesus, and honour Him by their reverent silence.

As we enter the church, Christ greets us from the tabernacle. He delights especially when we love and honour His Mother on her feast days.

Scripture alone? Holy Scripture is a gift from God. How strange it would be to receive this Word, when it is 'delivered' to us, without acknowledging the Church that wrote it and handed it on - and her Tradition, her Eucharist, her teachers, saints and symbols.

Christ is present whenever two or three are gathered in his name, even amongst Christians who have no wish at present to enter the Catholic Church.

It is really important, as we journey together in the Church towards Heaven, that we love one another, and do not overlook the command to love our enemies, or to love the sick, shy and poor in a parish.
