In Christ's Person is found every facet of love and loveliness. He and His mother are our 'patterns' - models of goodness for all.

We are invited to bear the pure fire of love, which is God, in the embrace of someone like ourselves: the Son of God, our Saviour.

Christ, true God, took flesh from Mary. He stood before us in His Incarnation as divine love embodied, as true man.

God is simple: God is love: an outpouring love, so powerful and pure that He is like a torrent of flame which either burns or consoles.

Because of their Baptism, souls have been changed; and those who enter Heaven are 'shielded' from the burning fire of love which is God's nature. Instead of suffering through contact with His holiness, they shine, in joy: as if each is a little flame of love, visible even amidst the surrounding Divine Glory.

It is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Love, Who carries souls to Heaven when we die. A person who hates others is plainly not full of the Holy Spirit; and if he dies in that state, he will not be able to rise up to Eternal Life.

Just as a flower in summer is wide open to receive the honeybee, so the Godhead is as if 'wide-open', always, to receive the thoughts and words of human beings. God is so loving that He is inviting us to bring all our problems, hopes and secret causes for shame, to Him in prayer. There is nothing He is not willing to hear about, and to help us through.

If there are intensely shameful or embarrassing things in a person's life, that person should believe that nothing is too shameful to bring to God in prayer, in a search for help. Each of us should have faith in God's infinite love for us, which goes hand-in-hand with His desire to make us happy and holy.

Although God holds everyone in existence, a person in earthly life who refuses to believe in God, or refuses to give up his sins, is by his own free will cut off from the influence and joy of God's love. It is as if he or she sits in darkness in a large box, whilst the graces of God pour around, outside it. People in a state of grace are bathed in that grace.

We are right to yearn to know the truth about God, and life; yet reality is different from, and greater than our first imaginings. A person who builds a picture of Paris, from a few stories, and films and melodies, finds that the reality is even more marvellous. So it is, with our thoughts about God. People all over the world have different pictures in their minds, but when Jesus arrived on earth, revealing the truth about God's nature, it was astonishing for people to learn that He is Love and Truth. It was thrilling.

It is as if the Holy Souls are suspended in God's love, as they move closer to the light, little by little, helped by our prayers, until the moment when each can enter joyfully into Heaven, and share in the blissful life of the Saints, at the heart of the Most Blessed Trinity.

Christ spoke of Hell to some people only because of His love for them, when He saw that they were in great spiritual danger, and might die unrepentant. It was just as when a loving father today gives a stern warning about unruly behaviour, and says: "You could find yourself in great danger". The truth about Hell should be preached today, as well as the truth about Heaven.

Every detail of our lives is of interest to God, Who loves us as a good father loves his children. Whatever good things we do, God is willing and able to help us with them, whether we build, make music, nurse the sick, or paint for His glory and to delight or help other people. He cannot help us to do evil - though He can bring good out of the evil we do.

When we have shown our love for Christ by fulfilling our ordinary duties but want to offer Him further good deeds, we need not worry about doing one very good thing or another, as if He might be displeased by the deed. It's as if Christ is speaking to His friends in Heaven, at a banquet, saying, 'This friend on earth make me very happy. Every good deed she offers me, whatever it is, is like a bowl of delicious food'.

It's as if God is like Three loving parents. Some people mock the simple requests of the faithful, and say that God is not a 'Sugar Daddy' or a Fairy Godmother. Christ wants us to know, however, that what He said in the Gospel is true. The nature of God is generosity and love. So when we ask God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - for something in prayer, believing that it will be ours, we shall receive it, if of course we have prayed properly, with trust and reverence, in the name of Jesus.
