Our intercessions for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, in the name of Jesus, are like a rope that draws them towards heaven

The Christ we meet in Holy Communion is as if at the 'doorway' of three areas. He is the point at which His friends of earth, Purgatory and Heaven meet. We on earth are close to Him, but not yet wholly secure; the Holy Souls are safe forever, but cannot yet 'hold' Him; the Saints share His glory, and can never lose Him.

There is a broad road to Hell, and a narrow ladder, it seemed, to Heaven. There were many more people in view, at one side, below Christ and His Saints. These Holy Souls were in shadow, in Purgatory - safe with God, yet not yet enjoying Heaven.

As we praise God at Mass, with and through Christ, we praise Him with the whole Church, which includes the Saints of Heaven - here encircling the altar - and the Holy Souls.

The Holy Soul who is ready for Heaven is met not only by Christ, but also by His holy Mother and all the Saints. They all lead that joyful soul up the flight of steps to the Father's throne, in great gladness.

It is a cause for sadness, that many people never pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory - amongst whom might be their own friends and relations. It is not a light matter, either, that many do not themselves believe that they might need purification after death; it's as if they imagine they will all be perfect, ready for Heaven!

There is a place not far from Heaven, called Purgatory, where people arrive to prepare for Heaven. It is as if they finally take off their dirty rags, and are re-clothed like royalty; then they process to their seats, wearing crowns, to join the Saints above - through the love and mercy of God Who rewards all who die in a state of grace.

A soul released from Purgatory soars like a rocket towards the distant 'sun', which is the radiance of Heaven. Each new saint approaches God in perfect humility.

The soul who is ready to enter Heaven, after Purgatory and not straight after death, kneels in awe before the Godhead, and waits for Christ and Our Lady to lead him to the Father's heart.

It is a marvellous 'moment', when a soul is shown that he is perfectly purified, and is ready to leave Purgatory and enter Heaven. There, in the Father's light, he will meet his Saviour, Christ.

I saw a soul rising up from Purgatory like a man waking from a bad dream, who then gazed around him in wonder. On seeing Heaven's glory, he was amazed at its beauty, and full of joy that, in his purified state, he was about to enter.

Many Catholics have no idea of what is really happening at Mass. It is tragic that so many children say that they are bored at Mass. Not having been instructed about the Holy Sacrifice of Christ, they are ignorant of the fact that Christ is truly Present amongst us, praising the Father of Light in the presence of the whole Church. We pray with the Saints and the Holy Souls, and with the Holy Angels.

At the end of his purification in Purgatory, this happy soul soared upwards towards Heaven like a swimmer launching himself upwards towards the surface of the ocean, in order to reach for the shore.

A happy soul who leaves Purgatory is greeted by the Angels, is clothed in white, and is led along a path to the foot of the steps that lead to the Father's throne in Heaven.

The Holy Souls in Purgatory undergo an interior cleansing and transformation, as they realise how much time they wasted in earthly life, when they might have shown greater love towards God and their neighbours, in humility and obedience.

The Holy Souls have only each other for company: such sad company, as they weep, and bewail the times they wasted on earth when they might have shown more love for God or their neighbour, or might have been quicker to repent of their sins. But at least they are safe now, and grateful for safety - with Heaven to look forward to, in the end.
