The 'ground' in which we walk, in our spiritual lives, suffers from subsidence and becomes dangerously frail when the pure water-pipe of sound doctrine is broken by our disbelief. To have a weak faith, or to follow an erroneous conscience, is to walk along a road which is likely to collapse when tested by a heavy load.

Whenever we pray with real faith, trusting that God hears us, it's as if we open a trapdoor overhead, which we had kept locked from our 'side'. By praying with faith, we consent to receive God's graces, and even to be raised up high, emerging from despondency and gloom.

Christ, in His earthly life, offered the Sacrifice to end all sacrifices, though He deserved nothing but love, honour and glory. He allowed sinners to humiliate and kill Him, in order to show the depth of Divine Love. We, at Mass, can offer that once-for-all Sacrifice in reparation for our own sins.

As we travel towards Heaven, Christ is like a signal-man whom we rely on to send our messages to those waiting to meet us at our destination. Through Christ, we can be certain that our prayers reach God the Father, and the Saints.

Some people begrudge having to look after sick relations. They even bang the dinner plates on the table. That's what it's like when we pray to God with resentment, or are angry about having to confess our sins.

Our Lady comes to help us in our difficulties

Heaven is like 'Head Office', and I am a junior in the Company. I don't know all the plans of the good director, but I can count it an honour to help Him. I even find that He comes out on the road to help me, or sends His Mother to guide me.

The Father accepts our gifts of bread and wine, as if leaning from Heaven like a kind parent taking gifts from a child. The greatest gift we can offer is Christ Himself made Present when our gifts are changed into His Sacred Body and Blood.

Whenever we 'show' the Lord in Prayer all our problems, hopes, sins, and resolutions, we make acts of trust in Him. By such acts, we are building a stairway which brings us even closer to Him - by His grace.
