At every Mass, Jesus Christ is made Present before us, our great High Priest Who intercedes for us with His Father in Heaven. The holy Angels look on and adore Him.

On the feast of St Michael and all Angels I 'saw' the Angels as they waited in church before the Mass began, adoring Christ Who was Really Present in the tabernacle.

As soon as the pyx was opened, and I adored Jesus, Really Present in the Sacred Host, I was shown the joyful sight of Jesus Himself, holding out His arms to greet me.

As soon as I had received Christ in Holy Communion, I was shown by Christ that He stood within my soul, so to speak, praising and adoring God the Father above, just as I had been doing throughout the day, as I prayed, and offered up my sufferings, for God's glory, and to help the Church.

Christ does not expect us to become perfect just because we spend time with Him at Exposition. He delights is our prayers of adoration; yet He understands when our minds wander, and when we reflect on ordinary aspects of life - as guests do at a wedding reception who don't spend every second talking about the bridge and groom.

A man shows real love if he visits his mother and helps her. Yet he also shows love if he makes time to sit with her, in conversation or a compassionate silence. And so it is with us, and Christ; He deserves our adoration as well as our service and work.

Showing Love for Christ: When we show love to Christ's 'little ones' we show love for Christ; yet Christ wants us to know that such service should not be a substitute for showing love directly to Him, in the Holy Eucharist. Every active person needs to find time for prayer and adoration.

When Christ is made Present before us at the Consecration, the holy Angels stand awe-struck at the love He shows towards us by coming amongst us in this astounding way. They are absorbed in adoration of the God-man, Jesus, substantially Present in the Holy Eucharist.

Everyone who dies meets Christ, even people of other religions, and even people who have never heard of Him. They will see Him revealed as their God, and as the Saviour Who died for them. Some will fall down in adoration, believing in Him at last, and will be saved, even if they need purification. Others will recognise Him as the enemy of the evil which they continued to love in earthly life, and despise Him, and hurl themselves away from Him, to end in Hell.

Christ is substantially Present with us in the church, in the tabernacle, and is made Present on the altar at the Consecration in the Mass. Crowds of adoring angels surround Him.

Christ is deeply touched, and very pleased, when we take part in traditional devotions such as Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, with Benediction, or the 'Forty Hours', and various devotions which honour His holy Mother Mary. He does not want anyone to criticise such practices, nor to ban them.

To be in the Presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament is to be in the Presence of God: to be with our Saviour now, as the Apostles were with Him in Galilee or Jerusalem. Though He is 'hidden', he deserves adoration and reverence in traditional ways. It is not appropriate to arrange rock music, or half-naked dancing girls.

Jesus Christ, our incarnate God, is substantially Present with us in the Holy Eucharist. We cannot see Him within the Sacred Host. But we who believe in His words accept the truth about His Presence, rejoice in it - and are eager to show our love and devotion in traditional ways of adoration, reverence, and with processions and hymns.

Christ was standing in the sanctuary; but He said that He was gazing around the whole Catholic Church on earth, saying: 'Here I am, your Divine Saviour, Really Present amongst you. But where are the Processions? Where are the banners? Where are the beautiful monstrances to honour me and to show out My Presence in the Blessed Sacrament? Years have gone past, with little Adoration or Benediction.

If we want to approach Christ at Adoration, to show out the love that was shown to Him by His Mother Mary on earth, we need only show Him our delight in His Real Presence, our gratitude for His gifts; with joy at being so near Him, and awe at being so close to our God: just as Mary did.

We can gain great graces from Heaven through the prayers of the Saints; yet the greatest graces are given by Christ Himself, directly, in the Mass, in the Blessed Sacrament in the tabernacle, and in Exposition and Adoration.

There is no need for irreverent liturgies to be offered to youngsters, in the hope of sparking an interest in religion. It is better, in Christ's sight, to prepare joyful social events for them, followed by thorough catechesis, and opportunities for Reconciliation. Then there can be a beautiful inspiring Mass, or Adoration and Benediction.
