Friends and relations who live, work and pray united in Christ, are pushing back the darkness, to enlighten others.

The Heavenly friends whose lives we acknowledge in the creed, are gathered about us. We are one family.

A sturdy jetty serves a purpose where little boats moor alongside; and a steady marriage enables people, by their close contact with others, to encourage them in holiness.

Time for a Halt: As the pilgrim family uses its provisions, so the Church enjoys light, leadership, food, and means of maintenance and mission.

Whoever cruelly deserts their spouse or children is causing them to suffer as Christ suffered in His Passion, when He was heartbroken and alone. Christ said that whatever evil we do to others, we do to Him, just as whatever good we do is 'counted' as done to Him.

Prayer can be like a meeting of members of a happy, united family who sit together, after a busy day, in companionable silence.

Those men called to the Priesthood who surrender family life with reluctance, as a sacrifice wrung from them by circumstance, are never as happy as those who are overwhelmed by the knowledge of God's love for them and see beauty and freedom in this total self-giving to God and His Will in imitation of Christ.

Christ wants us to pay attention to the Saints: to their living relationship with us, their feast days, shrines, relics and statues. We should treasure these as we treasure what connects us with earthly family and friends. We could ask the Saints for their prayers, with confidence in their love and God's goodness.

It is a tragedy that some parents or spouses, through neglect or cynicism, do little to encourage faith in those close to them. How terrible to be unable to enter Heaven together, with family members among the damned.
