The saints leaned forward, in great concern, like parents comforting a child who has been frightened by a bad dream.

Amongst the many people in Heaven are parents who would have liked to receive love and thanks from their children in earthly life. God wants families to show love for one another.

A happy obedient child on holiday has the freedom to do one good thing or another on the beach. She would not think of playing in a dirty ditch, or shouting at her parents. If we are happy and obedient we enjoy our freedom as God's children to choose to do one good task or another, and it does not occur to us to do deliberate evil.

Some Catholic parents encourage their children towards sinful behaviour and estrangement from God by allowing them to use contraceptives and even to bring their sexual partners to sleep in their home with their children. Parents must once day answer to God for what they have done in leading their children away from Heaven.
