Everyone on earth can choose to call out for God's help, hoping to be heard. Yet those who have been baptised into Christ, made adopted children of God, living in His light, can speak with God as with a friend, and have a sure hope of Heaven, if faithful to the end. Christ's Spirit, living in souls, gives knowledge of God, intimacy, and hope, and is a lamp for the Way.

Freed from the slavery of sin, each of us can look joyfully towards God and Heaven, hopeful about one day sharing God's glory.

Once, Christ swiftly embraced a departed soul after its purification, lifting it - like a newborn baby just delivered - high towards Heaven.

We are invited to bear the pure fire of love, which is God, in the embrace of someone like ourselves: the Son of God, our Saviour.

After the 'doorway' of our death, Christ invites the one who loves Him to step out, and cross the abyss, confident of being carried.

As an exhausted workman one day might gaze, astonished, at the shining road built by his labour, so we will marvel one day when God's 'fruit' will burst from our lives.
