There are times when we can avoid trouble and difficulty, and confront injustice; but there are other times when it is useless to protest, and we do best to imitate Jesus in His acceptance of His Father's plan, in total trust and surrender, confident the God can bring good out of evil.

Our Lady of Sorrows: Our Blessed Lady showed reverence for God, in love, obedience and submission, not only when approached as a teenager by an Angel, but throughout her life, and beneath the Cross. As she welcomed God's Will in every circumstance, so should we welcome it, in small things and great.

Those who have remained faithful to God, yet who need purification, enter Purgatory, from which they can 'ascend' to Heaven when they are ready. Yet Hell awaits those who have insisted, until they die, on ignoring God or rebelling against His laws in serious matters; who will find themselves separated from Him, in Hell, unable to escape.

It is a terrible moment, when a person who dies meets God, and admits that he had been put on earth to love and serve God, and find true joy in Him, yet had spent most of his life totally ignoring God, and His Son, and His Church, and His wishes.

We might sometimes question the wisdom of surrendering to God's Will, when we imagine our own plans are good. Yet His plan for us is always best: so great, eventually, that it's as if, in following His Will, we have accepted a life with a King in His Coronation Coach, even when we had not expected such goodness.

The Godhead is like an opaque cloud, in that we cannot pierce it by our sight to understand God's plans and thoughts. Yet we know His Will for us, which is that we keep His Commandments and fulfil our daily duties.

Wherever people follow Christ, and try to do His Will, there are fewer sick people neglected, fewer orphans abandoned, fewer weak people pushed to the margins, and greater love shown to all women, children and men.

No matter what difficulties spouses encounter, it remains the Will of Christ that they keep the vows they made, when each promised to love and honour the other 'for better or worse' - with the help of God.

Unbridled curiosity can lead to disobedience to God's laws - especially when young people can easily find pornographic material to devour, and when they have little discipline or sure teaching or guidance in these areas.

If we are happy and obedient we enjoy our freedom as God's children to choose to do one good task or another, and it does not occur to us to do deliberate evil.

Christ our God is Present in the sanctuary, with the Saints who now live in His love. He longs to welcome His friends, and to pour His graces upon us - and also reaches out to those who have not yet surrendered to His loving Will.

But it is a sad thing when an adult Catholic looks at two thousand years of constant teaching on a serious moral matter, and says to God - by her choices - "I believe I am right, and you and your Popes, Bishops, Saints and theologians are wrong, and I am going to use contraceptives".
